ALi Unveils Smart STB Solution M3932 Based on Latest Android 4.4 KitKat at CCBN 2014

Taipei — ALi Corporation, a leading Set-Top Box (STB) solution provider, today announced the launch of M3932, a high definition smart STB SoC solution based on the latest Android 4.4 KitKat, targeting applications including smart DVB or IPTV set-top boxes, OTT multimedia players, hybrid set-top boxes, and TV dongles. Mass production of M3932 is scheduled in Q2 2014.

M3932’s dual-core ARM® Cortex™-A9 processor allows the set-top box to run Android 4.4 KitKat, which can support 512MB DDR SDRAM, offering optimized cost structure, and faster APK loading speed, providing enhanced user experience. With M3932’s efficient system core architecture, boot-up time is reduced to less than 20 seconds.

Advancing with the multi-screen video sharing trend, M3932 supports DLNA that allows media content to be distributed across devices within the home network. M3932 also enables wireless display mirroring by supporting Miracast, enabling users to echo display from a small-screen device such as a smartphone or tablet onto a TV in real-time via a Wi-Fi Direct connection.

By integrating a high-performance hardware video decode engine, M3932 supports various broadcast and web-based video standards, thus providing an ideal platform for seamless enjoyment of innovative entertainment services.

M3932 features ALi Security Engine (ASE), which provides robust protection by implementing a chain of trust including secure boot, secure upgrade, in addition to a variety of latest attack resistance mechanisms.

Jim Li, General Manager of ALi’s China Business Unit, comments, “ALi leverages our mature hardware, software, and security expertise to launch M3932. By building a highly-integrated and flexible platform based on Android 4.4 and supporting customers with development, testing, and mass production tools, M3932 significantly reduces development time and effort for customers, which translates to faster time-to-market.” “Furthermore, M3932 provides customers the ability to offer diverse services and brings consumers true freedom to enjoy high definition content across devices," adds, Jim Li.

At CCBN 2014, to take place on March 20-22, 2014 in Beijing, ALi will showcase M3932 as well as another new product, M3381T-B, a high definition DTMB set-top box solution fully supporting AVS+, which is a new generation video compression standard being nationalized in China to support high definition and a key official requirement for set-top boxes addressing the Chinese market. Demonstrations of ALi platforms will be available at ALi's stand #1B201.
