Tianma Microelectronics Introduces 5.0-Inch HD LCD with In-Cell Touch Embedded Display for Smartphones
For super thin, touch sensitive, lower cost smartphones
Santa Clara, CA – Tianma Microelectronics has developed a 5.0-inch diagonal ultra-thin, super-sensitive touch HD LCD module (720 x 1280) with Touch Embedded Display (TED) technology for thinner, lighter and lower cost smartphone designs.
The new module is a TFT LCD with an In-Cell touch sensor inside the TFT cell to optimize touch and optical performance. Traditional touch displays use two driver ICs, one for display and one for touch function. The new TED In-Cell module uses only one TDDI (touch display driver IC) to perform both display and touch functions simultaneously.
The touch sensor is integrated into the display’s liquid crystal cell. A common electrode is designed into several unit arrays, and each unit array can be used for the display and touch together.
This technology enables smartphones to be slimmer, more lightweight and less expensive, with super-sensitive touch, higher report rate, faster response time and brighter display, with one IC and one FPC driving the display and touch at the same time.
The new 5.0-inch HD LCD with In-Cell TED will be exhibited at Display Week 2015 at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, California, June 2-4, in Tianma’s Booth 719.
