AVX Releases Two New High Performance, Low Pass Harmonic Filters for High Frequency Wireless Applications



The new 512MHz & 700MHz integrated thin film (ITF) filters exhibit low insertion losses & extremely sharp roll-off in ultra miniature 1206 chip sizes rugged enough for reliable automatic assembly



FOUNTAIN INN, S.C. – AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of passive components and interconnect solutions, has released two new integrated thin film (ITF), high performance, low pass harmonic filters that exhibit low insertion losses and extremely sharp roll-off in high frequency wireless applications, including: mobile communications systems, military and emergency communications services, and matching networks. Based on thin film multilayer technology, the new 512MHz and 700MHz land grid array (LGA) filters feature an ultra miniature 1206 chip size, and deliver excellent high frequency performance and rugged construction for reliable automatic assembly.



“Electronics in general are continually decreasing in size, but wireless electronics tend to face stronger and more urgent diminishing size demands than most,” said Larry Eisenberger, senior marketing application engineer at AVX. “Our new high performance, low pass ITF filters provide wireless systems engineers with peak performance and quality in an ultra miniature 1206 chip size that’s compatible with the smaller and more crowded PCBs that next-generation wireless electronics frequently feature, and plans to extend the range of these high performance filters to cover the 300MHz to 6GHz range are already in the works.”



Measuring just 3.10mm x 1.60mm x 0.60mm (L x W x H ±0.10), the new, low profile 512MHz and 700MHz ITF low pass filters are rated for 3W continuous power, and operating and storage temperatures spanning -40°C to +85°C. Featuring characteristic impedance of 50Ω and nickel/lead-free-solder (Sn100) coated terminations compatible with automatic soldering technologies (reflow, wave soldering, vapor phase, and manual), the RoHS compliant filters are 100% tested for electrical parameters and both visual and mechanical characteristics, and are shipped on tape and reel.
