Glass Coating offers alternative to acid etching.

Press Release Summary:

Available in frosted patterns, water-based Aqua-444UV bonds chemically to glass, eliminating need for high-temperature baking. It can be used to alter one or both surfaces of glass to scatter or diffuse reflected portion of visible light. Low VOC formulation is based on lead-free and cadmium-free glass. It will not yellow or fade under direct sunlight and offers chemical, water, and abrasion resistance as well as UV blocking properties.

Original Press Release:

Aqua 444UV* Waterborne Frosted Glass Coatings

Aqua-444UV provides low temperature cure not achieved by any other coating process as well as being low VOC and water based. The coatings bond chemically to the glass, thus eliminating the need for high temperature baking, as other glass coatings required.

Applications ofAqua-444UV are an alternate to acid-etching process for surface alteration of glass for high-end framing. This is known (in USA particularly) as "non-glare" and, incorrectly, as non-reflecting glass with one or both surfaces altered to scatter or diffuse the reflected portion of visible light.

Aqua-444UV will not yellow or fade under direct sunlight (depending upon pigmentation) and has excellent resistance to chemicals and water, abrasion resistance and has UV blocking properties.

Aqua-444UV comes in frosted patterns.

Chemical Composition: Aqua-444UV formulation is based on a lead-free and cadmium-free glass, combined with a novel processing approach to create the final imitation etches enamel system.

Durability: Good resistance to attack by mild acids, alkalis, alcohol and water.

Typical Baking (Firing) Conditions

Convection oven: 10 minutes @ 350°F (177T)

IR Oven: 2.5-3 minutes @ 350°F (177T)

Ease of Clean up: Flushing with soap and water or mild cleaning agent is usually all that is necessary to clean equipment and screens. For screen plugs, spray with Isopropyl Alcohol, and lightly scrub with clean soft-bristled brush.

Shipping: Shipping can occur immediately after cure and the glass has cooled.

Surface cleaning of substrate: Like any high quality surface coating, the cleanliness of the substrate is extremely
important. Dirt, dust, oil and presence of other coatings on glass substrate can cause surface defects or performance
problems.

Aqua-444UV can be supplied ready-to-use for application by traditional wet spraying or brushing coating techniques.

Note: The user of this product should check the performance of this coating before application.
