P&S Plugtail(TM) GFCIs Add Safety and Value to Any Commercial Construction Project

SYRACUSE, NY (Dec. 7, 2006) - Pass & Seymour/Legrand (P&S), a leading manufacturer of electrical wiring devices and home systems, today introduced the newest addition to its award-winning line of PlugTail(TM) Wiring Devices. PlugTail(TM) Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCIs) are now available, providing faster, more consistent and safer installations for greater cost savings on any commercial construction project.

P&S has combined the best GFCI on the market with the revolutionary new PlugTail(TM) concept. PlugTail(TM) devices take advantage of the standard commercial pigtailing process to offer faster, more consistent device installations. The new PlugTail(TM) Ground Fault installs three times faster than conventional ground faults and eliminates exposed terminals for a finger safe application.

"PlugTail GFCIs offer productivity gains to help customers meet tight deadlines, ease the labor process and save on costly man hours," said Scott Bausch, product manager, Pass & Seymour/Legrand. "The PlugTail Ground Fault works with the existing PlugTail tails, so at rough-in you just install the PlugTail connectors into the receptacle openings. At device out, we now have a receptacle solution for any opening."

The PlugTail(TM) GFCI's tail process provides the ultimate miswire prevention and offers P&S's SafeLock(TM) protection. It's compatible with all PlugTail(TM) Connectors, including the new Right Angle Connector which features crimped and welded contacts that leave the wire from the ultrasonically welded housing at a 90-degree angle. This is especially useful in shallow applications.

PlugTail(TM) GFCIs also meet Federal Specification requirements, considered the quality standard for Commercial Receptacles and necessary for many government projects.

This new GFCI lineup includes: Spec Grade, Hospital Grade, Spec Grade Nightlight, Hospital Grade Nightlight, Spec Grade Tamper-Resistant and Hospital Grade Tamper-Resistant. The GFCIs meet the new UL 943 GFCI standard, which took effect on July 28, 2006.
