Flow Meter Systems test fire pump performance.

Press Release Summary:

Made of brass, Fire Pump Flow Meter Systems are protected against overload by diaphragm housing design. PFA Ellipse, PFV Venturi, and PFB Annular pitot tube models, available for 2-16 in. pipe sizes, include dust-tight case, direct-readout gauge with dial featuring 270° arc, and operator-selectable gpm or lps water flow readings. When pressure difference exceeds range, gauge accepts accidental application up to 60 psig without damage.

Fire Pump Flow Meter System Achieves Precise Performance

Preso Meters features its Fire Pump Flow Meter Systems. These systems are used instead of the typical hose valve header and hose method, and are a simple, precise and economical method of testing fire pump performance. Flow monitoring is easily achieved by allowing the operator to read the water flow directly in GPM or LPS. The fire pump systems primary elements are designed to produce a differential pressure to attain accurate flow measurements.

Preso offers three types of fire pump systems available for pipe sizes 2" to 16". These models include the PFA Ellipse, PFV Venturi and the PFB Annular pitot tube. Preso's fire pump systems offer low permanent pressure loss and have little to no maintenance necessary. The PFA Ellipse model is FM approved and features the Preso patented Ellipse®. The elliptical shape is designed with a series of ports facing the upstream velocity pressures and flow sensing ports strategically located ahead of the trailing edge flow separation. The Model PFV FM approved features the Preso Venturi-a successful design with over 35 years of field performance in a wide variety of applications. It can be installed in any position with minimal straight pipe requirements. The PFB Annular is made up of a round pitot tube. It has an accuracy of ±3% and is capable of bi-directional flow measurement.

Each fire pump system includes a direct-readout gage with a dial featuring a 270° arc for fast and accurate reading. A dust-tight case ensures trouble-free operation. Preso gages are made of rugged brass construction and are protected against overload by a unique diaphragm housing design. When the pressure difference exceeds the range, the gage will accept the accidental application of up to 60 PSIG without damage. Under normal conditions, the differential pressure should not exceed the range of the gage.
