Fiber Laser marks plastic and metallic parts.

Press Release Summary:

Based on optic fiber and sources ranging from 10-50 W, Model i 103 l-g operates up to 100,000 hours without maintenance and meets marking needs on plastic or metallic parts which are subjected to close tolerances or very high rates of production. Stand-alone fiber unit controller eliminates need for PC. With fiber laser system, all marking types are possible, including alphanumeric, Datamatrix, logos, deep or superficial.

Original Press Release:

A New Controller "Fiber Unit" for the SIC Marking Fiber Laser

The new range of integrated laser i 103 l-g meets marking needs on plastic or metallic parts which are subjected to close tolerances or very high rates of production. The choice of the fiber laser technology allows it to be more compact. Thus, its integration into production line is easier.

The laser i 103 l-g is noted for:

- Its high speed of execution thanks to optic fiber and sources going from 10W to 50W

- Its exceptional service life: guaranteed up to 100,000 hours without maintenance fees

- Its ease of integration: working without a PC (standalone) directly linked with an automaton (I/O, RS 232,)

To work all capacities of i 103 l-g, SIC Marking developed a new controller: the fiber unit.

More powerful, more reliable, it meets all industrial needs. We also can pilot a third axis thanks to the specific driver. The most favorable feature of this controller is its stand-alone function: no need for a PC to use the laser (tests, maintenance).

With the fiber laser system, all marking types are possible: alphanumeric, Datamatrix, logos, deep or superficial

Example of Laser application on Turbo parts:

To accompany its clients in their international growth, SIC Marking has established a presence on 5 continents.

Problem:

Installation of a new laser marking system with integrated vision for better traceability and cost reductions.

Actions:

The technical center of our client based in France consulted the research department of SIC Marking to replace an inkjet marking station. Its criteria chosen was the marking performance and the capacity of a group to lead this project at an international level.

Carried out:

The goal was to install a laser on a production line of turbo crankcase. The marking was made up of an alphanumeric text and a Datamatrix engraved in frosted. Our client chose an Italian integrator to lead the study; an Italian partner has followed up on the study. The installation and the training have been done in a plant in Czech Republic.

Project coordination, international presence of the group, efficiency of the suggested solution were determining points to achieve success for this project.
