Cape Clear Software Launches Rapid Integration Solution for the Government Sector

GTC Southwest 2005, AUSTIN, Texas, February 3 -- Cape Clear Software is today announcing a series of new initiatives designed to provide federal, state, and local governments with a range of functionality and solutions that deliver the cost and productivity benefits of the latest integration technology. These include packaged solutions, on-site workshops to address government-specific IT challenges, peer-group support for the government sector, and a major program to reach out to systems integrators and independent software vendors who are working with the government sector.

The program is built around the emergence of Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) technology as a new, low-cost means of integrating IT applications that enables the rapid delivery of new online services at a fraction of the time and cost of traditional integration. The ESB is ideally suited to the specific challenges found in government-to-government (G2G), government-to-business (G2B), and government-to-citizen (G2C) initiatives.

"Federal, state, and local governments are faced with difficult challenges. There is a growing demand for the delivery of a variety of new online services to support government agencies, citizens, and businesses, while at the same time there is a clear mandate to reduce the cost of integration," according to Joe Lichtenberg, vice president of marketing at Cape Clear Software. "The Enterprise Service Bus has emerged as a means of addressing these challenges. It simplifies the integration of the wide range of heterogeneous applications and data prevalent within the government sector, and enables the rapid delivery of new online services-at a fraction of the time and cost of traditional EAI."

The State of Wisconsin recently chose Cape Clear's ESB for statewide IT integration. "We have a wide range of different applications, data formats, skills, and requirements across the state," commented Matt Miszewski, Wisconsin State CIO. "Traditional approaches to integrating that kind of diversity are too complex, proprietary, and expensive. The ESB provides us with a single bus that we can plug our applications into, it supports the systems and skills we already have, and gives us the flexibility to deliver new services, extending the value of our existing IT investments."

"The government sector is currently focused on delivering a new generation of valuable online services to its citizens and organizations," commented Matt Even, Director at Deloitte Consulting. "In reality, the delivery of those new services requires bringing together a diverse range of technologies, applications, and information. The ESB provides a full, standards-based integration platform that enables those services to be delivered quickly and economically. We're already working with Cape Clear to bring the benefits of the ESB to a number of government agencies."

"The government sector is moving away from the traditional, proprietary approaches to integrating internal technology," according to Alan Day, President, Systems Engineering Inc. "There is a growing demand for integration that reduces cost, increases productivity, and supports the delivery of new services. The Enterprise Service Bus has emerged as an integration platform that focuses on meeting those demands. It brings together ease-of-use, with full support for industry standards, and is already being widely adopted throughout government. We're working with Cape Clear to bring those benefits to our government customers today."

Technology Evolution

As Cape Clear's ESB is used by a growing number of government agencies, the company is committed to adding support for specific government integration requirements. The current release of the product has added full support for Web Services ReliableMessaging (WSRM), business process management, and a partnership with NEON Systems for mainframe integration. WSRM enables agencies to build reliable, secure links with remote offices using the Internet, which is essential considering the geographic diversity of most federal and state government agencies. Business process management enables government organizations to code flexible business processes into their applications. Tight integration with mainframe data and applications enables agencies to ensure that their legacy information and processes are fully integrated.

Government Technology Workshops

Cape Clear is launching a series of on-site workshops that describe the solutions and benefits that the Enterprise Service Bus brings to the government sector. In addition, Cape Clear is offering qualified organizations a risk-free proof-of-concept consultation to demonstrate how the ESB can help with their specific IT and organizational challenges.

Government Partner Program

Cape Clear is creating a new partner program specifically tailored to the needs of systems integrators, value-added resellers, and independent software vendors operating in the government sector. Interested parties can find out more information from partners@capeclear.com.
