Embedded SoC fosters graphical HMI implementation on FPGAs.

Press Release Summary:

Integrating memory and display control, graphics accelerator, alpha blending and transparency, as well as various HMI graphics objects, Lattice Semiconductor embedded HMI-On-Chip (HOC) accelerates creation and implementation of embedded graphical HMIs on Lattice FPGAs. Complete functionality required for display driving, graphics rendering, and embedded visualization – scalable from small size QVGA to large full HD displays as well as other system interfaces – is provided. No OS is required.

Original Press Release:

Future Electronics Features Embedded HMI-On-Chip Solutions from Lattice Semiconductor

Pointe Claire, Quebec - Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, has announced immediate availability of an embedded HMI-On-Chip solution from Lattice Semiconductor.

Embedded HMI on Chip (HOC) is a compact Human Machine Interface (HMI) solution for rapid creation and implementation of embedded graphical HMIs on Lattice FPGAs.

The HMI on Chip solution has been developed by Mikroprojekt on the LatticeECP3TM HMI Development Kit. The solution offers the complete functionality required for display driving, graphics rendering and embedded visualization, scalable from small size QVGA to large full HD displays, as well as a wide variety of touch screen and system interfaces.

Target Applications include domestic appliances, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) systems, automotive information displays, building automation and elevator controls, industrial automation systems, and service and control terminals.

No operating system is required for this Lattice FPGA-based embedded HMI solution, and the HOC is a fully integrated design. It includes memory and display control, a graphics accelerator, alpha blending and transparency, and various HMI graphics objects: buttons, sliders, bar-graphs, and data fields.

Offering easy interface deployment and a single integrated file, there is no-coding, with a fully graphical interface design process and a small FPGA footprint for compact implementation, ensuring easy system integration with memory-mapped data exchange and fully configurable external interfaces.

Simple evaluation can be completed with the LatticeECP3 HMI Development Kit.
