New Digital Bag Tag Speeds Check-in at Airports

WEST CHESTER, Pa., -- Alaska Airlines partners with Vanguard ID Systems to launch the ViewTag; a Permanent RFID Electronic Baggage Tag that promises to speed check-in at the airport ticket counter. Initially developed to simplify checking luggage, the ViewTag has evolved into a tracking device that will allow passengers to locate their bags instantly within an airport utilizing RFID technology. The ViewTag can easily update passenger's travel information with any smartphone through Bluetooth. Originally utilizing NFC, which draws power from a smartphone to update the tag, this change resulted in two years of redevelopment. During this time Vanguard was able to bifurcate its focus on durability, efficiency and overall product design while engineering changes were made. Richard Warther, the President and Founder of Vanguard ID Systems, (inventor of the Barcoded key Tags for retail Loyalty (3 Billion)) has spoken very highly of his breakthrough product, stating that it is "a revolutionary product that will change the face of travel forever." Alaska Airlines is set to debut the ViewTag this summer with select travelers to ease check-in at the airport, and improve upon the overall passenger experience.

Vanguard ID Systems has been working with The International Air Travel Association (IATA) to ensure that these tags can be used by all airlines in the future. The ViewTag complies with IATA's Best Practices for electronic bag tags, as well as all FAA and TSA regulations. Alaska Airlines has been testing the ViewTag's capabilities and is set to schedule a launch of the breakthrough product this summer.

Alaska Airlines will be giving a large portion of their status fliers the ViewTag , and has high hopes for the product. Backed by Vanguard ID Systems, Alaska Airlines has a reliable, durable and technology-savvy product. Throughout internal testing and development with Alaska, Vanguard's electronic bag tag has proven durable, efficient and long-lasting, just like the airlines demand.

Vanguard ID Systems is a pioneer and leading manufacturer of barcoded and RFID cards and tags. Sitting beneath 1,700 solar panels and on top of 23 Geo-Thermal Wells 24 miles West of Philadelphia, this eco-friendly manufacturing plant celebrated its 29th year in business.
