HumanWare Unveils the SmartView 360, the Electronic Magnifier that Provides a Clear View in All Directions

LONGUEUIL, QC - HumanWare proudly announces the arrival of a product so practical, it's simply smart: the SmartView 360 features an integrated camera that magnifies images to help people with low-vision, regardless of age, to clearly see the world all around them.

The SmartView 360 will help students view text in a book with an enhanced black and white contrast control; then they can simply twist the camera for a full-color image of a blackboard or presentation screen. Seniors will find the SmartView 360 especially helpful for everyday uses such as reading instructions, books and mail, and for personal tasks such as applying make-up and styling hair.

"We are very excited to introduce the SmartView 360 for the first time publicly at the ATIA Conference in Chicago on October 27. It will give people a hands-on experience to better understand its ease of use. We wanted to offer our customers a tool that they can simply plug in and work with. This one is practically intuitive. It's smart and simple at the same time," says Gilles Pepin, CEO of HumanWare.

Rotating, positioning and pointing the SmartView 360's camera is easy. When moved from one position to another, these parameters are automatically saved to memory for quick recall. The camera's specific zoom control adjusts magnification in precise steps to a level that suits the user's needs. The press of a button quickly switches from seeing an image in full color to viewing text in an enhanced contrast mode. Plus, a "find" button provides a quick overview of what the user is viewing and easily locates what needs to be magnified.

Compact design is yet another of the SmartView 360's strengths. It requires less desk space than 2 sheets of paper. And whether the material to be viewed is placed in front or to the side of the monitor, the camera is easily moved for viewing multiple documents spread over a workspace.

Orders for the new SmartView 360 are being taken now and shipping will begin in mid-November (price: $2,195 USD).
