Swiveling Electrical Module for End-Effectors Increases Flexibility for Industrial Robot Tool Changers
A patent-pending electrical module incorporates a moveable cable connector that allows the connected cable to be positioned at any of 5 different angles, through a 180-degree span, resulting in faster and neater robot cable dress. The module is used to pass electrical signals from the robot side to the tool side of the quick-connect robotic tool changer. The new G19-Swivel Electrical Module, available from ATI Industrial Automation, provides a new level of flexibility in electrical signal cable dress by allowing the user to select the best angle of cable attachment, making a neater and more compact cable envelope. The G19 is used on a wide range of ATI robotic tool changers used in material handling, stamping, welding and assembly applications.
Tool changers give robots the flexibility to automatically change the end-effectors or other peripheral tooling. They provide robots the capability of performing a variety of tasks with a quick means of changing the end-effector.
The compact, lightweight G19-Swivel is made of anodized high-strength aluminum alloy with a 19-pin electrical interface. The electrical module has a 5 Amp/250VAC capacity and easily mates with all R, S, and T Series tool changers. The module has a miniature MS quick-disconnect connector and the pin block is sealed from moisture when coupled.
