Electric Infrared Oven Used to Dry Steel Webs



Wisconsin Infrared Systems' model Web Dryer/IR/E, an Electric Medium-Wave Web Drying Oven, was manufactured for the steel industry; to remove moisture on a steel web that runs 200 FPM.

This infrared oven was specifically designed to remove moisture on a steel web ranging from 1/8" to ½" thick. It has three zones to help provide uniform heat across the web and it also has the ability to turn off zones when drying smaller web widths. The oven uses medium-wave, rapid response heaters and can operate coil temperatures up to 2000 °F. The heaters are mounted in a manner to heat from the top-down and bottom-up. The oven was designed to deliver high power in a short space. This design is used in many web applications where floor space is at a premium.

The oven is constructed using tongue and groove panel construction with 6" of insulation and is rated for 200-600 °F. The equipment features a manual control package with 3 zones of control, and is mounted on casters so the oven can be moved off the web line as required. This oven heating capacity is rated at approximately 200 kW.

Additional features available are; customized oven sizes, batch or conveyor systems, Full PLC control, operation on different fuels, Watch Dog® Oven Management Systems and turn key systems.
