Clare's Most Rugged Dual LCAS IC Has the Highest dV/dt Ratings in the Industry

First Dual Line Card Access Switch (LCAS) IC has Guaranteed 1500V/use dV/dt Ratings for Central Office, Integrated Voice & Data and DSLAM Telephony Applications

August 4, 2009- Beverly, Massachusetts, USA, Clare, Inc., an IXYS company (NASDAQ: IXYS - News), and world leader in the design and manufacture of high voltage, analog and mixed signal ICs, today released their 1st Dual 6-pole LCAS IC. The CPC75282 has the highest, guaranteed dV/dt rating (1500V/usec minimum), for all on-chip bidirectional switching power devices. This best-in-class dV/dt robustness rating makes the CPC75282 dual LCAS device the most reliable solution for the public switch telephone network (PSTN) which is commonly subjected to lightning or surge events.

The dV/dt enhancement for the CPC75282 device is made using Clare's silicon-on-insulator (SOI), 330V BCDMOS process with trench isolation, used for many years in central office (CO) telecom equipment requiring long operational life (20+ years). This rugged high voltage integrated circuit technology can also be used in communication over powerline, monitoring and remote metering applications.

The integrated LCAS IC in TQFP packaging provides the electrical switching functionality of four mechanical 2-Form-C relays, enabling higher density line card designs, and provides a drop-in upgrade and second-source replacement of the Le75282. The LCAS IC features digitally-controlled high-voltage switches used between a Subscriber Line Interface Chip (SLIC) and the PSTN tip/ring line. The CPC75282 provides make/break switch functions for battery feed, ringing, line test-out and ringing test. It also has integrated current-limiting and thermal shutdown which works in conjunction with a voltage clamp, providing superior protection for the SLIC. And, the LCAS IC requires only a +5V supply for operation.

The dual 6-pole CPC75282 is fully specified over the -40 to +85°C industrial temperature range and is available in an industry standard 44-lead TQFP package in production quantities.
