Kimberly-Clark Professional Introduces Environmentally Responsible WypAll Wipers with 40 Percent Post-Consumer Recycled Fiber

Entire Product Life Cycle Designed to Reduce Environmental Impacts

ROSWELL, Ga. - Kimberly-Clark Professional has launched a new generation of environmentally responsible disposable wipers under the WypAll brand. Available as WypAll X60, WypAll L40, and WypAll L30 Wipers, the new WypAll 40% recycled fiber wipers:

Are manufactured using 40 percent post-consumer recycled fiber, from sources including recycled cardboard boxes (seven are recycled to make one Jumbo Roll of WypAll X60) and recycled office paper (a ream is recycled to make one Jumbo Roll of WypAll L40).

Contain up to 35 percent more sheets than standard packaging.

Use up to 100 percent recycled fiber in the product packaging.

"In designing and manufacturing these new environmentally responsible wipers, we examined the entire life cycle of the product. That includes everything from product design and the raw materials used, to how the product is manufactured, transported to customers and users, and eventually used and disposed of," explains Ron Cox, category manager, Kimberly-Clark Professional. "We were able to identify ways to reduce the use and environmental impact of resources at every stage, in keeping with our Reduce Today, Respect Tomorrow program."

Reduce Today, Respect Tomorrow is Kimberly-Clark Professional's global environmental sustainability program and reflects the principle that the way we use resources today will shape the world of tomorrow. Reduction is the key to lowering the environmental impact of the company's activities as well as those of customers. For more information, visit www.kcpreducetoday.com/us.

Environmental Advantages, Reliable Performance

The new WypAll wipers' use of raw materials containing 40 percent post-consumer waste complies with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) comprehensive procurement guidelines. The virgin fiber used to manufacture the wipers comes from suppliers that have gained independent certification of their forest lands or their fiber procurement activities.

The fact that the new wipers contain up to 35 percent more sheets than standard wiper packages allows more product to be packaged in each case and wipers to fit in each truck, thus putting fewer trucks on the road and reducing the amount of transportation-related carbon emissions. Less packaging also means up to 35 percent less waste is sent to landfills.

"The new wipers feature these environmental advantages while at the same time providing the reliable performance WypAll disposable wipers are known for," adds Cox.

The new wipers are available in Pop-Up box, quarter-fold, and Jumbo roll formats. For more information, including where to purchase, visit www.kcprofessional.com.
