Original Press Release:

PS588 Automated Device Programming System to be Featured at ATExpo

Redmond, WA., September 27, 2005 - Data I/O® Corporation (NASDAQ:DAIO) today announced the release of the PS588, a new high speed offline production programming system for high volume, high mix device programming needs. The PS588, the latest in the high performance PS Automated family of programming solutions, will demonstrate automated handling and programming of microcontroller devices as they are built into a digital clock on the EASI-Line manufacturing and assembly display at Assembly Tech Expo in Chicago.

The PS588 is a high performance automated programming system in the PS(TM) Line of products offered by Data I/O. Designed for OEM/ODM or programming centers producing in high volumes for small or large batches, the PS588 introduces a number of enhancements specifically designed for these environments:
o Highest throughput programming system available: At 1400 devices per hour, the PS588 exceeds throughput of any automated programming system on the market today.
o 'Auto-Teach' feature: Set-up time for a new device and package can have a critical impact on throughput and cost per programmed device, the two key performance measures in high volume programming. The Auto-Teach feature automatically finds the center of a device simplifying the process of setting precision placement of a new device package, optimizing operations in production mode.
o Windows XP(TM) Support: The PS588 software systems have been re-designed to take
advantage of performance and communications improvements available with Windows XP.

High Performance
Built on the reliable PS Automated Programming platform, the PS588 exceeds the standard for a higher industry performance in component handling efficiency. "We are pleased to showcase the PS588 in the EASI-Line display at ATExpo 2005," said Dave Rohona, Product Line Manager for the PS Systems. "Device programming is a key step in the manufacturing process, and Data I/O solutions demonstrate the flexibility available with our solutions for offline, inline, and on-board programming."

Support for Mainstream and Emerging Device Technologies
The PS588 can accommodate up to 48 programming sites from the FlashCORE(TM) line, or 12 Universal Optima programmers, to address any device mix. The FlashCORE programmer provides high speed, lowest cost per device programming support for NAND flash, high density NOR Flash, and flash-based programmable microcontrollers. The Optima programming architecture adds broad support for legacy devices, programmable logic, and DIP packages.

Modular Concept
Across the PS Family of programming solutions every automated system is compatible with the others. By providing a common GUI interface, common programmers, consumables, algorithms, programming job files, operator training and feeder options, such as tray, tape and tube, Data I/O has assured user familiarity across systems, and increased flexibility in mixing components to accomplish the programming task.

Availability
The high performance of the PS588 system is available for immediate delivery. Data I/O programming solutions and services are available through Data I/O offices, representatives and distributor locations worldwide.
