San Ramon, CA, – Spectrum Lasers Inc announced the release today of its 9th generation (since 1998) dental diode laser SPECTRALASE PLUS for sale in the US. Renowned laser physicist Dr. George Bekov has developed SPECTRALASE PLUS which features several critical internal design changes from previous models to offer a more advanced and reliable laser.
SPECTRALASE PLUS is a totally cordless laser. The exterior design was influenced by Bang & Olufsen and painted Iridium Silver Metallic, an automotive Mercedes Benz paint. Changes include rechargeable battery powered laser and a cordless foot pedal. SPECTRALASE and SPECTRALASE PLUS feature a unique self adjusting ComfortPulse mode. Years of medical community research influenced Dr Bekov to create a pulse mode using short pulses with a duration of 10 millionths of a second and an amplitude of 3 watts. These power levels are high enough to cause coagulation of surface tissue and have bacteriocidal properties. SPECTRALASE automatically adjusts the pulse width and duration depending on the wattage setting. Research and clinical experience has led Spectrum to conclude that this combination of variable pulse width and pulse interval is optimal for laser performance and tissue health.
