Videx Announces PulseStar(R)

A Data Collector Designed for the Harshest Environments

Corvallis, Oregon -Videx, Inc., a manufacturer of portable data collection products and access control systems, announces its newest data collector, PulseStar. PulseStar is an extremely rugged, water-resistant reader of Dallas Semiconductor's iButtons. Upon successfully reading the button's unique ID number, the PulseStar gives a vibrating pulse rather than an audio tone.

A predominant advantage of PulseStar's design is that there are no beeper or LED openings in the case, allowing the PulseStar to be completely sealed. PulseStar can be taken into the harshest of environments, from the dusty floors of warehouses, to rainy or even muddy conditions outdoors. Housed in a metal case and sealed with "O" rings, the internal components are protected against possible shock damage associated with repetitive drops.

The pulse indicator has added value in high-noise areas such as industrial and manufacturing environments, or conversely in extremely low-noise areas such as hospitals and nursing homes, where any extraneous noise is undesirable.

iButtons are small metal canisters containing a unique ID number that cannot be duplicated. When PulseStar touches an iButton, the button's unique ID is stored in the reader's memory, along with the date and time of contact. The iButton can represent a person, a location, an item, or even an action.

PulseStar is the perfect solution for applications such as security guard tour tracking, inmate tracking, jail checks, industrial maintenance rounds, or transport and container tracking. anywhere that collection of information is required.
