Cylindrical Roller Bearings enhance turbine gearbox reliability.

Press Release Summary:

SKF Separable High-Capacity Cylindrical Roller Bearings support high-speed shafts and high-speed intermediate shafts in wind turbine gearboxes. Designed for optimal load-carrying capacity as well as to eliminate risks of roller-to-roller smearing and adhesive wear in service, bearings features brass cage that promotes lower inertia, integrated cage guidance on inner ring (shoulder), and black-oxidized rollers. Design also features optimized play between rollers and cage bars.

New SKF Separable High-Capacity Cylindrical Roller Bearings Promote Enhanced Reliability for Wind Turbine Gearboxes

New SKF Separable High-Capacity Cylindrical Roller Bearings introduce advanced technology solutions to support high-speed shafts and high-speed intermediate shafts in wind turbine gearboxes. These robust bearings have been uniquely designed to achieve higher load-carrying capacity and eliminate risks of roller-to-roller smearing and adhesive wear in service. Full dimensional exchangeability with standard counterparts allows them to fit existing design envelopes whether for initial designs or replacement upgrades.

These compact bearings combine and build upon the advantages of both conventional and SKF High-Capacity Roller Bearings. Among key features and benefits, a lightweight brass cage promotes lower inertia to reduce the risk of roller smearing; integrated cage guidance on the inner ring (shoulder) contributes to reduced roller slip, reduced risk of smearing, and higher reliability; optimized play between rollers and cage bars enables greater safety and reliability; and black-oxidized rollers improve both running behavior and oil film buildup to realize more stable running conditions.

Should maintenance be required, especially top-of-turbine, their separable design promotes quick and easy dismounting and mounting to help reduce operating, maintenance, and lifetime costs per kW hour.

Their higher load ratings and design innovations contribute overall to extended service life, higher power density, and enhanced shaft and gearbox reliability.
