AMS Controls Introduces New Easy-to-Use Controller for Portable Roll Forming Machines

St. Louis - December 19, 2002 - The new MP550 portable roll forming machine controller is as foolproof as setup and operation gets thanks to a graphics- and symbols-driven menu presented on a premium oversized LCD screen.

Ten times more powerful than its predecessor, the MP550 controller features one of the industry's largest LCD screens used with a portable unit. The 2.5" x 4.5" (5.1" diagonal) unit makes it easy to see graphics and symbols used to guide the operator through programming and calibration. Low-light or bright-light conditions are no match to the image output of the MP550's easy-to-see LCD screen. Such on-site visibility is important to operators of portable roll formers used for fabrication of metal guttering, siding, roofing and studs.

Additional features of the MP550 include a ¼-inch thick cast aluminum case, made weather tight with a built in, temperature-controlled heat source for cold weather environments. A 20-key, full-sized keypad further adds to the unit's ease of operation. Special design attention was paid to sealing the keypad against the elements, fingertip grime and airborne dust and grit. For storage away from the machine, the MP550 can be instantly disconnected for safekeeping.

"Graphics and symbols displayed by the controller were specifically chosen for their universal ability to communicate without the operator having to read instructions," says Rick Wilhelm, AMS Controls president. "First and foremost this makes the controller simple to use for any operator. Secondly, this controller breaks language barriers and is a great addition to machines destined for export or domestic use in areas where English may be a second language."
