Conformal Coating helps manufacturers reduce VOC emissions.

Press Release Summary:

Acrylic conformal coating, USTFA, facilitates and optimizes selective coating process. Able to adhere to difficult substrates, low-viscosity coating has UL94 V-0 flammability rating and meets requirements of IPC-CC-830. This single-component, 100% solids coating cures in seconds with conveyorized UV lamps or within 2 hr at 80°C. Multi-cure mechanism facilitates cure in shadowed areas: under 3 days at ambient temperatures and humidity (or accelerated by 30 minute bake at 80°C).

Original Press Release:

New Conformal Coatings Help U.S. Manufacturers Reduce VOC Emissions

Electrolube has developed a new acrylic conformal coating, USTFA, for the American market to enable users to reduce their site’s VOC emissions. Over the past few years, U.S. Federal and State Agencies have been establishing limitations and regulations of VOC content found in thousands of chemical products. As an ISO 14001 specialist chemicals manufacturer committed to innovation, safety and environmental responsibility, Electrolube’s USTFA conformal coating has been developed to assist U.S. manufacturers comply with these regulations by using federally approved, VOC-exempt solvents to improve operator safety and reduce environmental impact.

The low viscosity USTFA coating facilitates and optimizes the selective coating process, and provides greater adhesion on difficult substrates. With UL94 V-0 flammability rating, the fast drying coating meets the requirements of IPC-CC-830 and is currently pending UL746E from the Underwriters Laboratories. The coating is also available as bulk material for manual application methods.

Electrolube will launch the new acrylic coating at the IPC APEX EXPO in Vegas, alongside a new fast-drying UV Cure coating, UVCL, which is also VOC-free. The 100% solids coating cures in seconds with conveyorised UV lamps, or within 2 hours at 80C°, due to an innovative ‘multi-cure’ mechanism that facilitates cure in shadowed areas. With a 12-month shelf life, the single-component, low-viscosity UVCL coating has been specifically formulated to give superior ‘sharp-edge’ coverage with common selective coating methods. Shadowed areas will cure in under 3 days at ambient temperatures and humidity, or can be accelerated by a 30-minute bake at 80C°. The highly flexible coating meets IPC-CC-830 requirements and is UL94 V-0 rated. Pending UL746E, UVCL is extremely resistant to common ‘thermal shock’ cycling, solvent and fluid exposure, moisture vapour, salt-spray and condensing environments.
