Computed Radiography produces detailed digital results.

Press Release Summary:

Offering alternative to conventional film radiography, computed radiography (X-ray inspection or radiographic testing) performed with Carestream Industrex HPX-1 Digital System produces digital images that can be saved to disc, emailed, and archived. Digital radiography may be conducted on various solid products and can provide valuable information for determining soundness of material or product, identifying extent of corrosion, and uncovering source in fire investigations.

Original Press Release:

Laboratory Testing Inc. Offers New Radiography Capabilities

Laboratory Testing Inc. (LTI), a full-service materials testing, nondestructive testing and metrology lab, announced the expansion of services available for X-ray inspection, also called radiography or radiographic testing. The laboratory’s Nondestructive Testing Department now performs computed radiography with a Carestream Industrex HPX-1 Digital System, in addition to conventional film radiography. While the X-ray process is the same for both methods, the computed or digital process differs from conventional X-ray film by producing a digital image that can be saved to a disc, emailed to customers and easily archived. Digital radiography may be conducted on various solid products, ranging from plastic injection moldings, circuit boards, batteries and evidence for litigation, to steel or aluminum castings and welds. Laboratory Testing Inc. is offering this digital method to customers as an alternative to film based X-ray inspection at no additional charge. LTI will work with customers to prepare custom procedures that ensure conformance to required specifications.

Radiographic testing can provide valuable information for determining the soundness of a material or product, identifying the extent of corrosion, uncovering the source in fire investigations and more. The need for radiographic testing services can occur during product research & development, as part of the manufacturing, fabrication or installation processes or when a product is in service. Digital radiography, which is a variation of hi-tech digital photography with no films, chemicals or processing required, is used across a wide-range of industries and for this broad range of testing needs.

Computed radiography provides the digital equivalent of the conventional X-ray film, with added advantages to better meet the needs of customers:

• Image enhancement and optimization capabilities for improved analysis

• Quick and easy sharing of images

• Convenient storage of test results

In addition, customers will be able to view the images at LTI on three mega-pixel medical grade monitors, or receive a copy of the viewing software to install on their own computers, at no charge. The images may be rotated for orientation, lightened or darkened to view different thicknesses in a test sample and can be zoomed with sharp detail.

Laboratory Testing Inc. provides digital and film radiography through its Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Department, which also performs ultrasonic testing, hydrostatic pressure testing, magnetic particle inspection, liquid penetrant testing and visual inspection. These nondestructive testing services are PRI/Nadcap accredited and are performed according to strict quality procedures to ensure reliable results. LTI’s nondestructive testing technicians are certified to ASNT SNT-TC-1A, NAS410/MIL-STD-410, MIL-STD-2132 and Pratt & Whitney PWA-NDTQ. Certified NDT Level II and Level III technicians evaluate all test results.
