GE's New CFLs Live Longer, Help Users Prosper

CLEVELAND - Debuting this year are several new extended-life compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) from GE Consumer & Industrial: 12,000-hour Spiral® lamps, 10,000-hour reflectors and 10,000-hour shapes that provide greater lumen output compared with current GE CFLs and longer rated lives than most comparable ENERGY STAR® CFLs available today.

These new CFLs give CFOs, energy czars and facility managers in hospitality, property management and general commercial settings world-class tools for reducing wasteful spending on lighting energy and maintenance.

Now available from GE are:
  • 12,000-hour extended-life Spiral® CFLs in a variety of wattages (10, 15, 20, 23, 32 and 42) with 2700 lumen output (maximum), 2700 Kelvin and 82 color-rendering index (CRI);
  • a 10,000-hour, extended-life 15/25/32-watt 3-Way Spiral® CFL with 600/1600/2200 lumen output (maximum), 2700 Kelvin and 82 CRI;
  • 10,000-hour extended-life CFL reflectors (R20, R30, R40, PAR38) with 1300 lumen output (maximum), 2700 Kelvin and 82 CRI;
  • 10,000-hour extended-life CFL shapes (15-watt A-line, 14-watt bug light, 11-watt fan lamp, 11-watt globe) with 800-lumen output (maximum), 2700 Kelvin and 82 CRI.

    Compared with standard CFLs, the new extended-life CFLs provide greater energy savings and up to 60-percent longer rated lives (standard reflector at 6,000 hours vs. extended-life reflector at 10,000 hours).

    "For many of the companies using or considering CFLs today, the debate has shifted from simply incandescent versus CFL," says Gary Crawford, compact fluorescent product manager. "Now the choice to be made involves standard CFLs and the most advanced CFLs. GE makes the choice easy with competitively priced, extended-life CFLs that also happen to be the longest-rated-life ENERGY STAR CFL products available today."

    An ENERGY STAR partner and 2004 recipient of the prestigious ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award, GE Consumer & Industrial has determined that the CFL products mentioned in this release meet the ENERGY STAR guidelines for energy efficiency as set by the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy. In 2005, GE Consumer & Industrial received the ENERGY STAR National Product Campaign Award.
