Bern Optics Announces Submillimeter Optical Apertures with Outside Dimensions as Small as 0.2 mm for Use in Precision Analytical & Medical Devices

WESTFIELD, MA, - Bern Optics, Inc. today announced the availability of coated optical apertures with outside dimensions as small as 0.20 mm in diameter. The aperture can be circular or made to custom shapes and held to micron tolerances.

Created from optical and filter glasses, these microscopic elements - some as small as a grain of salt - can be produced with apertures positioned within microns of a physical feature. Custom designed anti-reflection coatings can be applied to all transmitting surfaces. Bern Optics can also provide apertures cemented to other optical components in a sub-assembly.

These extremely precise elements are ideal for use in any application where a precision aperture is required.

Founded in 1989 by Bernd Gottschalk, Bern Optics, Inc. is fully integrated to convert raw glass into highly accurate, exotically coated, optical components, from prototype to volume production. As one of the premier independent manufacturers of precision optics, the company has consistently remained in the forefront of micro-optics manufacture and fabrication.
