Valpey Fisher Solves Timing Problem in High Performance Converters

HOPKINTON, MA, November 14, 2006-Valpey Fisher Corporation (AMEX: VPF), a world leader in low noise timing solutions introduces a series of low jitter (VFAC3) and ultra low jitter (VFOV110) clock oscillators that solve the timing problem in high performance Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs).

"Any high speed ADC is extremely sensitive to the quality of the sampling clock," explained Greg Arthur, Sr. Application Engineer, Valpey Fisher. The resolution and accuracy of the converter is limited by the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). For optimum performance, the input sample clock signal must be a high quality, extremely low jitter source, and low Jitter crystal-controlled oscillators, like the VFOV110 and VFAC3, make the best clock sources."

The VFAC3 series oscillator generates less than 1 ps RMS jitter and is available in frequencies of 80MHz to 170MHz. "With a very low power consumption (~ 100 mW) and a small 5 x 7mm footprint, the VFAC3 is an excellent choice for standard applications," stated Arthur, "For optimum ADC performance, the VFOV110 series oscillator offers a noise floor of -174 dBc/Hz @ 100MHz and a power consumption of about 1.2W at steady state." The VFOV110 is available in a 25.4 x 22.0mm surface mount package and a frequency range of 25MHz to 135MHz.
