SEMCO Introduces 2 x 2-Foot Active Chilled Beam Cassette with Personalized Air Comfort
The LYRA II™ chilled beam is designed for smaller commercial building spaces with 2 x 2-foot ceiling grid designs and features controllable airflow directionality and velocities.
SEMCO® LLC, Columbia, Mo., an energy-efficient HVAC equipment and IAQ technology leader, introduces the LYRA II™, the HVAC industry's only 2 x 2-foot active chilled beam cassette capable of personalized pinpoint temperature and humidity via a digital controller. The LYRA II is an ultra quiet, cooling/heating chilled beam capable of precise airflow patterns and velocities for smaller spaces under 300 square feet, such as offices, hallways or patient rooms in commercial, hospital and educational new construction and retrofit applications.
The LYRA II is an easily-installed, all-in-one mounting cassette designed to fit 2 x 2-foot ceiling grids. Unlike conventional chilled beams, it features personalized air comfort with digital field-adjustment capability of one, two, three or four-way air directionality to accommodate any room shape or configuration. It also digitally controls discharge velocities ranging from 11 to 150-feet/min. Its 8.5-inch-deep enclosure is designed to suppress turbulence and operational airflow noise to below 20-dB levels.
This unprecedented chilled beam comfort control is accomplished with the optional pressure independent (Pi) controller, a 4 x 4-inch digital microprocessor for easy on-board or remote mounting. The Pi is integrated with an on-board, electro-mechanical module that uses a 24-V powered motor to adjust the cassette's airflow blades and nozzles for direction and throw, while also adjusting dehumidified outdoor air induction with volume dampers.
The LYRA II is also the HVAC industry's most economical, efficient and effective chilled beam cassette when combined with a factory-consulted, comprehensive engineering design using SEMCO's NEUTON™ controllable chilled beam pump module (CCBPM) and Pinnacle™ Series outdoor air dehumidifiers.
Other LYRA II features are:
- Can also be controlled by an optional NEUTON for direct connectivity to the building management system (BMS);
- Includes easily-installed steel mounting brackets that match fastening points on all ceiling grid brands;
- Comes standard with four-way diffusion, but can also be factory-adjusted for airflow directionality and velocity when digital control isn't necessary;
- Needs only annual maintenance that conventional chilled beams require by removing aesthetic faceplate diffusion grille to clean coils;
