Chemical Delivery System enhances oil and gas well operation.

Press Release Summary:

By safely delivering production treating chemicals deep into reservoir, ParaFrac™ system helps preemptively treat wax- and asphaltene-related production issues. System prevents organic deposition during stimulation job and delivers additional operational efficiencies via slow-release chemistries that penetrate into reservoir to minimize buildup. Additionally, system enhances environmental compliance via wax crystal modifiers dissolved in BETX-free oil which is part of guar slurry.

New Oil and Gas Industry Standard for Effective "Anti-Deposition" Technology Set by Independence Oilfield Chemicals, LLC

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Independence Oilfield Chemicals, LLC (IOC) announced today the commercial offering of its new fluid-conveyed ParaFrac(TM) system--a chemical stimulation technology that safely delivers production treating chemicals deep into the reservoir to preemptively treat for costly wax- and asphaltene-related production issues.

"Throughout the U.S., paraffin and asphaltene deposits adversely affect the production and economics of many unconventional oil and gas wells, " says IOC's Sr. Vice President of Technology, Dr. Mike Brown--who is also the inventor of the ParaFrac system. "A common method to prevent buildup of these harmful deposits is to pre-treat wells during stimulation treatments. But until now, not all available pre-treat methods could promise operators equal efficiencies or returns. Nor could they stand up to heightened regulatory scrutiny since wax crystal modifiers (WCM) have been typically dissolved in environmentally harmful BETX-based solvents."

The newest member of Independence's ChemReach(TM) Service, the ParaFrac system is not only designed to prevent organic deposition during the stimulation job, but also deliver added operational efficiencies via patented slow-release chemistries that penetrate deep into the reservoir to further minimize buildup and enhance well economics. In addition, the ParaFrac system provides an extra measure of environmental compliance because its wax crystal modifiers are dissolved in proprietary BETX-free oil that is part of the guar slurry. This combination better utilizes the oil and makes the system much more environmentally acceptable--all while maintaining the benefits of the gelling agent and paraffin inhibitor.

"With ParaFrac, clients can delay costly well interventions for months, even years," notes Dr. Brown. "While placing additives into the stimulation treatment is nothing new to the industry, what our veteran chemists--holders of many pivotal industry patents--have introduced to the industry is an environmentally-friendly slurry system which, unlike any other, offers operators operational simplicity because it does not require the separate metering and mixing of typical additives.

"At Independence, we have developed a laboratory method where produced fluids from offset or similar wells are evaluated to select customized paraffin inhibition systems which are then incorporated into the gel slurry system. This data can be used to model and predict sensitivity to pressure, temperature and compositional changes with respect to wax deposition."

"We continue our pursuit to help clients obtain superior results because we put production first when developing laboratory methods and fluid designs," adds Jeff Hibbeler, CEO of IOC. "Bottom line: ParaFrac offers our clients improved handling, stability and hydration characteristics over conventional slurry products--and we do it all with a firm commitment to protecting the environment. Once delivered deep into the formation, our paraffin inhibitor adsorbs onto reservoir surfaces and remains in the formation long after the stimulation fluids flow back."

ParaFrac is another example of IOC's commitment to bring effective, environmentally advantageous proprietary fluid systems to market to promote continuous performance improvement and savings in the oil and gas industry.
