Original Press Release:

Wausau Introduces High-Performance Visuline Windows with 3- or 41/2-inch Frame Depths and Insulbar® Thermal Barrier

Wausau, Wis.) - Wausau Window and Wall Systems® announces the latest addition to its Visuline Series - the new 3250iV and 4250iV fixed and project-in, Insulbar® thermal barrier, aluminum windows in 3-inch or 4.5-inch frame depths. Further enhancing the products' appearance, the windows' aluminum frames may be painted or anodized in two different finishes to match both exterior and interior color schemes.

Offering flexibility for both architects and contractors, Wausau's Visuline windows deliver high-performance comfort that withstands demanding environmental and security challenges such as for residential high-rises. Engineered with a structurally glazed sash and a single handle, multi-point lock, the AAMA AW-90 rated casement windows meet or exceed the industry's most stringent testing for air infiltration, water and condensation resistance, structural integrity and thermal performance. Backed with up to a 10-year limited warranty, Wausau's 3250iV and 4250iV windows also have earned a Level 40 for forced entry protection and successfully passed New York City's window guard test.

New York's Cielo luxury condominium tower is among the first buildings to showcase Wausau's 4250iV windows. Its name means "sky" in Italian and is appropriately designed to highlight and reflect the surrounding Manhattan skyline. Currently, glazing contractor American Industries is installing these large windows. Stacked floor slab-to-floor slab, the windows can be used for most window wall applications and offer installation accessories including high-performance sill starters, large movement head and jamb starters, outside/inside corner mullions, and the ability to effortlessly interface with Wausau's other window and door products.

Visuline's uniform sightlines make fixed and operable windows nearly indistinguishable when viewed from the exterior. Optional integral venetian blinds may be specified to maximize convenience and cleanliness, while providing sunlight control. Fresh air and sunshine are other major benefits of operable windows. In many parts of the U.S., natural ventilation offers a seasonal opportunity for savings when included as part of a facility's HVAC design. Additionally, recycled aluminum also may be requested in manufacturing Wausau's window systems. Recognizing these sustainable design benefits, the U.S. Green Building Council LEED® Rating System awards points for operable windows in the "Ventilation Effectiveness" and "Controllability of Systems" Credit categories.
