Black-Body Coating suits high-temperature applications.

Press Release Summary:

HiE-Coat(TM) 840-C helps improve thermal efficiency of ceramic and refractory insulated combustion and exhaust pipes as well as oven and furnace walls to 2,500°F. Demonstrating emissivity greater than 0.90, this jet-black, water-based ceramic coating will absorb and re-radiate IR energy. Cured in operation or by heating for 1-2 hr @ 200°F, environmentally friendly product is odorless and water-soluble, does not contain VOCs, and will not outgas upon curing or during operation.

HiE-Coat 840-C, New HI-TEMP, Black-Body Coating Now Offered

Valley Cottage, NY - March 24, 2006

SUMMARY

HiE-Coat(TM) 840-C, a new high temperature, black-body coating developed by Aremco Products, Inc., is now used by manufacturers of insulation systems to improve the thermal efficiency of ceramic and refractory insulated combustion and exhaust pipes as well as oven and furnace walls to 2500 °F.

FEATURES

HiE-Coat(TM) 840-C, a jet-black, water-based, ceramic coating now produced by Aremco Products, Inc., demonstrates an emissivity greater than 0.90 at temperatures to 2500 °F. The emissivity of a material can range from 0.00 to 1.00; a high emissivity material will absorb (rather than reflect or transmit) and very effectively re-radiate infrared energy. High temperature combustion chambers and ovens and furnaces constructed using high emissivity coatings are more energy efficient and distribute heat more uniformly.

HiE-Coat(TM) 840-C is applied easily to ceramic and refractory surfaces using a sponge brush, roller or conventional spray equipment. The coverage rate is approximately 500 ft²/gallon based a two mil dry film thickness. Curing is accomplished in operation or by heating for 1-2 hours at 200 °F.

HiE-Coat(TM) 840-C is a user and environmentally friendly product. It is odorless, water-soluble, and contains no volatile organic compounds. It will not outgas upon curing or during operation, a particularly important feature for high temperature systems used in the automotive, electronics and aerospace industries.

Aremco also offers a new product, HiE-Coat 840-M, which is used for coating carbon and stainless steel panels and tubing used in gas and electric-fired ovens to 2000 °F. For more information about HiE-Coat(TM) products, please contact Aremco's Technical Sales Department.
