Original Press Release:

MS5805-02BA01 Digital Barometric Pressure Sensor Module

Measurement Specialties, Inc. (NASDAQ: MEAS) has just released to production its new MS5805-02BA01 digital barometric pressure sensor module. With sealing designed for 2.5 x 1mm O-ring, this small altimeter requires only 4 large pads for operation and uses I2C communication. Operating at a low current consumption of 0.6μA (standby <0.1μA at 25°C) at 1.8 – 3.6V supply voltage, it boasts a fast conversion time down to 0.5ms with an oversampling selection available up to 8192.

At a highest resolution of 0.02mBar, equivalent to 20cm of elevation, this 24-bit DS ADC integrated digital pressure sensor has a pressure accuracy of ±4mBar for pressure ranging from 300 to 1200mBar and temperature from -20 to +85°C. The pressure sensor module also includes temperature measurement capabilities with a temperature accuracy of ±2.0°C and temperature resolution less than 0.01°C. Along with having the capability to be splash-proof down to 40m of water, the MS5805-02BA01 is ideal for portable and battery-operated devices such as fitness gadgets, mobile altimeter/barometer systems, bike computers, adventure or multi-mode watches, variometers, dataloggers and waterproof cell phones.

This digital altimeter module accommodates today’s growing technologies by enabling for better capabilities for new consumer electronics. Examples include, fitness gadgets that could not previously afford a water-resistant sensor and GPS units that can now add “waterproof” to their designs.
