Universal Lighting Technologies' Low Profile AccuStart(TM) Incorporates Unique Ballast Technology And Small Case Dimensions

Programmed Rapid Start technology featured in ballast line

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 20, 2002) - Universal Lighting Technologies, a leading manufacturer of electronic and magnetic ballasts, has expanded its line of low profile AccuStart(TM) High Performance (HP) ballasts for frequently switched applications and as a replacement for current rapid start applications. By combining the latest in technology and packaging into one, the expansion of the AccuStart(TM) low profile ballast line is an industry exclusive for Universal Lighting Technologies.

The design of the low profile AccuStart(TM) HP ballast line takes advantage of new component technology to bring the user a small cross section (overall height 1.18") for reduced fixture size and improved operating efficiency.

In addition to new, small case dimensions for fixture design optimization, the low profile AccuStart(TM) HP ballasts feature installer-friendly universal input voltage (108-305 volts) and
less than 10 percent THD. Universal input voltage provides user flexibility for applications and reduces inventory by as much as 50 percent. They feature standard mounting and wiring footprints for easy installation and replacement.

Universal Lighting Technologies has taken programmed rapid start technology one step further with AccuStart(TM) HP ballasts. The technology properly heats the lamp filaments before igniting
the lamps, which yields an increase in lamp life up to 50 percent in applications where the lamps are frequently switched on and off. This improved lamp operation can provide more than 50,000 lamp cycles.

"The low profile AccuStart(TM) not only provides a small case for fixture design flexibility, but also incorporates programmed rapid start technology to maximize lamp life," said Mark Timbario, product manager of electronic products. "This longer life also means lower replacement costs and fewer hassles associated with changing lamps."
