SPACE SAVING AUTOMOTIVE ANTENNA CONNECTOR FROM HIROSE ELECTRIC

SIMI VALLEY, CA -- Hirose, a leader in the development of innovative connector solutions, has released the GT21 Series automotive antenna connector, which features a coaxial termination system that allows crimping of the center and outer conductors in one easy step. The cable assembly is finished without touching the center conductor, which provides precise center conductor positioning and produces consistent, repeatable cable assemblies. Hirose's one-step termination process delivers a precision assembly in significantly less time.

This enhanced connector is designed to save space and is up to 10% smaller than competing designs. The GT21 Series significantly reduces the required PCB real estate, resulting in a more compact antenna design solution. With a voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of 1.5 maximum (DC to 2.5 GHz), the compact GT21 connector features excellent performance characteristics in a small space.

The automotive antenna connector has a reliable, positive lock structure with visual indication and a positive tactile click. This structure helps to prevent incomplete locking and provides a secure lock.

Available in one to four coaxial contact positions, the GT21 Series comes in a through-hole type (15mm x 8.15mm x 10mm), SMT type (15mm x 8.75mm x 10mm), an in-line type (27mm x 10.55mm x 12.2mm), and a power/coaxial hybrid type (15.6mm x 12.5mm x 10mm). The power/coaxial hybrid type is under development and scheduled for release in spring 2015.

The GT21 Series has a rated current of 1 Amp, rated voltage of 250V DC, withstanding voltage of 500V AC for one minute, an insulation resistance of 100M ohms at 500V DC, and an operating temperature range of -30°C to 105°C.
