Suffern, NY (July 27, 2007) - On-Net Surveillance Systems Inc. (OnSSI), the market leader in non-proprietary, open architecture intelligent IP-based video surveillance software solutions, announced the addition of a new audio alert feature to its field proven IP video surveillance solution.
"Our new audio event alert capability provides an additional new dimension to situational awareness, and supports OnSSI's vision of providing a fully open-architecture, integrated surveillance solution," said Mulli Diamant, VP of Sales for OnSSI. "The addition of audio monitoring further enables law enforcement officials to quickly respond to potential acts of violence or other events that can not be detected by IP video surveillance alone."
Sensitive microphones connected to the audio input on IP cameras can detect audio events such as gunshots, screams, sirens, etc., that may not be detected by video cameras. Upon detection of an event, the OnSSI software platform can "push" live video of the event or of the detected area to the users' control room display, trigger the recording of the event, increase the recording frame-rate, or send email or text message notifications to users.
The audio event alerting feature can currently be found on a number of cameras including Axis camera models; additional camera manufacturers are expected to provide similar features in the near future.
In addition to the alert feature/benefit, OnSSI's IP video surveillance solution offers extensive audio support including audio plus video recording capabilities on all channels and the use of an encrypted tamper-proof evident database for use as evidence in court.
