Spartan ERV Unveils Telstar: a Revolutionary, All-Calls, Articulated Aerial

Spartan Telstar Brings Array of Market-Changing Features to the North American Market, Including a 138-Foot Telescopic and Articulated Aerial Platform and All-Call Compartmentation Developed in Conjunction With French Manufacturer Gimaex

CHARLOTTE, Mich., -- Spartan ERV (Emergency Response Vehicles) a subsidiary of Spartan Motors, Inc. (Nasdaq:SPAR), today unveiled their latest weapon in the fight against structural fire and emergency situations: the Spartan Telstar -- a fire apparatus that sets a new global standard for aerial performance. It was introduced immediately following the company's press conference conducted at the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) in Indianapolis, Ind.

The Spartan Telstar offers several industry-leading features highlighted by a 138-foot telescopic and articulated aerial platform, which supplies an "up, over and down" range of motion to navigate over parapets for roof rescues, clear power lines and trees for access and provide for below grade recues. This aerial capability is achieved while maintaining excellent compartment space, ground ladder storage and enough room for a high-capacity pump, said Jim Salmi, general manager of Spartan ERV's aerial division.

"The Spartan Telstar was designed after careful analysis of what the North American market needs and wants," said Salmi. "Cutting-edge technology, exceptional aerial performance and all-calls first-responder capabilities are what this product delivers.
Innovation, global reach and speed are all strategic directives for Spartan.

"The relationship with Gimaex combined with Spartan's leadership position has enabled TelStar to become a reality, quickly. It's another example of Spartan's leadership in developing efficient, innovative and performance-driven products. Gimaex's aerial expertise, combined with our position in the American market, has provided a rapid market entry without compromising performance, technology or price point."

The Spartan ERV/Gimaex collaboration is a byproduct of Spartan's recently announced strategy that leverages relationships with global leaders to provide market-leading technology to meet changing customer needs. The partnership includes technology sharing, joint purchasing power, as well as leveraging development and production costs as global sales opportunities present themselves.

"We have provided similar technologies in global markets for years,"
said Louis Devaleix, Gimaex Americas CEO. "Partnering with Spartan has enabled us to take our existing technologies -- which have been tested in adverse environments like the sweltering deserts of Dubai and the cold northern slopes of Sweden -- and customize them to meet the demands of the American market. It's the world's most innovative fire technologies rolled into one."

"TelStar, with its redundant controls and remote diagnostics, sets a new ER standard as we focus on maximizing uptime. What's great about the Telstar is its ability to be an everyday truck for emergency responders," said Salmi. "Its 129 feet of ground ladder storage makes it the only articulated boom platform classified as an 'all response vehicle'."

The Spartan Telstar's aerial offers:
