FRANTZ Manufacturing Launches New Line of Aluminum Conveyor / Skate Wheels - Now Offered in Standard and Tortoise Shell Versions
Press release date: January 3, 2014
FRANTZ entered the conveyor or skate wheel business in the 1930’s with the introduction of a line of roller skates branded “Hustler Speed King”, hence the term skate wheels. Later, conveyor wheels were mass produced for the war effort during WWII and then for use in the material handling industry.
Today, FRANTZ sets the standard of excellence in the conveyor component and steel ball market segments where it competes. Consultative working relationships with its customers, engineer to engineer, enables FRANTZ to innovate solutions that solve customer problems and deliver value, rather than just sell product. Domestic manufacturing and testing facilities provide the quality assurance that gives its customers peace of mind regarding the products delivered.
Both the Standard aluminum wheel and the Tortoise Shell aluminum wheel utilize the same internal components. The steel balls and raceways are heat treated and hardened under stringent processes to assure years of satisfactory product usefulness. In fact, FRANTZ Sterling Steel balls manufactured in Sterling, Illinois are produced to meet strict automotive quality standards TS-16949.
Most FRANTZ aluminum wheels are engineered with a labyrinth shield designed to keep dirt and dust out of the wheel ball complement to assure long product life. To address unique application issues, other options are available such as polyurethane tires, special lubrication oils for cold temperature applications and wheels with no lubrication.
