Camfil Farr Offers Redesigned Line of Fluid Seal Bag-In/Bag-Out Air Filter Housings

Riverdale, N.J., December 2003 - Camfil Farr has introduced a redesigned line of fluid seal bag-in/bag-out air filter housings for containment of hazardous airborne contaminants. Camfil Farr "FB Series" housings use a PVC bag enclosure system to ensure complete capture of airborne contaminants during filter service, isolating personnel from hazardous materials and preventing the spread of infectious contaminants or other biologically harmful agents.

Applications include chemical, food and pharmaceutical manufacturing plants; genetic research and biotechnology facilities; hospital isolation suites; industrial processes exhaust; microelectronic and semiconductor facilities; nuclear power plants; radioisotope handling facilities; university research laboratories; veterinary research and animal disease laboratories; U.S. Department of Energy facilities; and "safe havens" to protect individuals from bioterrorism activity.

The Camfil Farr FB housing has a penetrating knife edge that inserts into a fluid-filled perimeter channel on the face of the air filter. A filter clamping mechanism is engaged, causing the knife edge to penetrate the fluid channel uniformly to create a leak-free seal. The housing comes in different sizes and stacking arrangements to meet varying airflow requirements, and it will accept a wide variety of high efficiency particulate (HEPA) filters, gas adsorbers, 2", 4" or 6" deep prefilters, and a choice of optional components. Camfil Farr has the unique capability to manufacture all of its containment system components in-house - from bags to filter elements to housings. This approach provides customers with optimum compatibility and single-source responsibility. In addition, every component undergoes a Camfil Farr Quality Assurance Procedure that exceeds virtually any published procedure or standard, notably ASME NQA-1.
