Flexible Silicone Rubber Adhesive Pads and Window Gaskets for Low Temperature Applications

Stockwell Rubber Company announces the availability of flexible silicone rubber adhesive pads, LCD gaskets, and window gaskets. This silicone rubber composite has been specified for hand held and portable units requiring extreme low temperature functionality. The 30 durometer silicone rubber substrate with silicone polymer adhesive on both sides allows for thermal expansion and contraction of mating plastic components and metal frames and maintains consistent bond strength down to -70 degrees F.

This silicone rubber composite functions beyond the temperature range of acrylic and urethane foams, and acrylic adhesive systems, which can become brittle and lose adhesion below -40°F. The adhesive composite is available in .025" and .040" nominal thicknesses. The gaskets and pads are normally precision die cut to provide a clean-cut edge to facilitate the removal of the release liners. Rapid prototyping is also available and is made possible by Stockwell Rubber's in-house water jet cutting capability if a two-dimensional dxf or dwg file is received by the company by e-mail.

The use of silicone rubber provides resilience, high temperature stability and general inertness unavailable in any other elastomer. Silicones are not affected by exposure to temperatures from -100 degrees F to 500 degrees F, and are also not affected by aging and degradation from sunlight and ozone.

Stockwell Rubber Company's core competence is the fabrication and molding of silicone rubber and similar high performance elastomers. Their in-house capabilities include custom molding and die cutting, and have recently taken on water jet cutting. Many of Stockwell's customers take advantage of water jet cutting for fast turn prototypes and initial production.
