June 8, 2009 - Designed as portable, combined XRD/XRF instrument, Duetto is used for phase/mineral and elemental identification of delicate materials (such as art work) or items too large to be brought into laboratories. This non-destructive analysis tool allows x-ray diffraction and fluorescence data to be obtained from one location on artifact, without touching it. Applications include paintings, manuscripts, and sculptures.

inXitu Introduces Duetto, a Non-Invasive, Portable, XRD/XRF Instrument for Art Conservation Analysis

A unique, non-destructive analysis tool, Duetto is the first portable, combined XRD/XRF instrument for phase/mineral and elemental identification of either delicate materials (such as art work) or items too large to be brought into the laboratory.

Duetto allows X-ray diffraction and fluorescence data to be obtained from a single location on an artifact, without touching the object, providing information on precious subjects such as: painting, manuscripts and sculpture.

inXitu's first installation of Duetto, at the Getty Conservation Institute in Los Angeles, is providing excellent data and a workshop on these results has been held in conjunction with the 2009 American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIC) convention in Los Angeles this month.

To read about Duetto in more detail, contact inXitu to receive a white paper on this exciting new technology.
