CA Workload Automation r11.1 Helps Improve Service Quality While Reducing the Cost of Service Delivery

New Version of Business-Driven Automation Solution Helps Enable Lean IT with Bi-directional Workload Initiation, Dynamic Business Event Recognition, and Simplified Job Management

ISLANDIA, N.Y., April 27 /- CA, Inc. (NASDAQ:CA) today announced a new version of CA Workload Automation (formerly CA dSeries Workload Automation), a distributed, hosted enterprise job scheduling solution that offers cross-platform, event-driven automation across both mainframe and distributed systems. CA Workload Automation r11.1 features bi-directional workload initiation, dynamic business event recognition, and simplified job management. These enhancements help improve service quality while reducing the cost of service delivery through centralized, cross-platform management of enterprise workloads across all applications. This is one of 13 new and enhanced products CA announced today that help CIOs achieve Lean IT by reducing waste, increasing productivity and improving the customer experience.

"Workload Automation is a real-time enabler for Web services, and the flexibility of integration and the ease of implementation that our solution provides are key process efficiency factors that our customers are looking for," said Roger Pilc, corporate senior vice president and general manager of CA's Infrastructure Management and Data Center Automation business unit. "These three new integration features in CA Workload Automation r11.1 position CA to continue as a leader in efficient, real-time workload processing that helps customers streamline inefficient workload management and increase IT system productivity."

"CA Workload Automation helps us accomplish more without spending a lot of money by providing a single point of control across our heterogeneous environments," said Glenn Smith, senior network analyst at Moen. "The solution's event-driven functionality delivers seamless reporting and monitoring of scheduling processes across platforms, operating systems and applications. CA Workload Automation's advanced SAP automation and comprehensive usability features were instrumental in our ability to maximize our throughput and streamline our nightly production batch window."

CA Workload Automation r11.1 is a cornerstone of CA's business-driven automation solution, which helps customers automate in context to business priorities by leveraging new and existing IT investments. The solution is instrumental in increasing business agility, service quality and control, as well as reducing risk and human error, minimizing costs, and improving IT efficiency.

"Customers asked us for a common set of tools to manage all scheduled and event-driven workloads, regardless of the originating applications or operating platforms. Through a single pane of glass, users can more effectively define, monitor, control, manage and integrate workloads," said Joanne Moretti, senior vice president of Product Marketing for CA. "Customers also requested the ability to monitor workloads as a 'unified logical business process' rather than a set of unrelated events on multiple platforms. Seeing the business process in a unified way helps IT deliver optimal service to their customers; using one common set of tools rather than disparate tools helps keep costs down."

"Our customers require more from their enterprise job scheduling software as they face more real-time computing demands, multiple platforms, and increased compliance legislation. These demands are best met by a distributed, hosted solution that controls both scheduled and event-driven workflow processes across the enterprise," said Tim Evren, managing director, Infusient. "CA Workload Automation does not rely on a schedule load, which allows it to immediately react to real business events rather than waiting for a user to submit jobs to look for events. With CA Workload Automation, we can provide IT organizations with substantial cost savings while freeing up valuable resource cycles to support other IT projects."

About the new features in CA Workload Automation r11.1

-- Bi-Directional Workload Initiation: A workload can be triggered by a Web-based activity (i.e. Web site) and can update the Web service with real time results.

-- Dynamic Business Event Recognition: CA Workload Automation r11.1 is able to use high level event "sensors" to detect a business event coming from an arriving file, a Java application, an SAP event, or database activity (i.e. customer on a Web site can trigger a workload process immediately).

-- Simplified Job Management: Unlike competitive products, which must define, on average, 14,000 different job variations for incoming files, CA Workload Automation r11.1 can do this with just one job definition, yet process each variation immediately upon arrival.

"In order for IT to effectively support business operations it must adapt to changes in processes and technologies," said Tim Grieser, vice president of Enterprise Systems Management Software, IDC. "A workload automation solution that integrates online and real-time processes with scheduled processing enables IT to build and manage dependencies between predictable and unpredictable workflows. An architecture that extends and adapts to next generation technology such as SOA, Web services and Web applications furthers IT's ability to plan ahead."

CA Workload Automation r11.1 is sold by both CA's direct sales force and CA's global network of channel partners.
