Kanguru Solutions Unveils a Wireless LAN Adapter With Built-In USB Flash Storage
MILLIS, Mass. – Nov. 13, 2003 – Kanguru Solutions today released the KanguruWireless LAN, an outstanding new technology that merges USB Flash Drive storage with a USB Wireless LAN adapter.
By combining the two technologies, the KanguruWireless LAN can be used to store images, Word documents, PowerPoint presentations and to connect to a wireless network.
“Recent studies have shown a consumer shift from PC’s to laptops signifying an increasingly mobile population. Building upon that idea, we saw a need to lighten the load a bit by combining a USB Flash drive with a Wireless LAN adapter,” said Jason Kamp, product manager for Kanguru Solutions. “Now you can store your work on your Wireless LAN and e-mail it out.”
Starting at $99.95, the KanguruWireless LAN fits in the palm of your hand and is available in two capacities including 64MB and 128MB. Offering network transfer rates up to 11Mbps, the KanguruWireless LAN allows you to connect to a wireless network anywhere -- at home, at the office or on the road.
The drive offers automatic rate fallback to adjust to distances and is compliant with 802.11b, DSSS, and 2.4GHz network standards. Additionally, the KanguruWireless LAN comes equipped with 40, 60 or 128-bit WEP encryption to ensure privacy and absolute security.
Weighing a mere 30g, the KanguruWireless LAN offers plug and play abilities, requires no external power and works with most Windows-based operating systems including Windows 98/98SE/ME/2000/XP. In addition, standard features of this product include an LED indicator and power support savings mode. It also comes with a USB extension cable and laptop mounting kit.
