Operating in temperatures from -40 to +70ºC, it provides quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE 900/1,800/850/1,900 MHz and SMS tunnel mode.

The W406 Empowers the Communication and Management of Industrial Applications Anytime, Anywhere


Taipei, Taiwan, July 22, 2009 - Moxa is pleased to release the W406, a RISC-based wireless embedded computer. The W406 contains excellent features that include four DI/DOs, GSM/GPRS/EDGE, and support for SMS to allow seamless communication and management with industrial applications anytime, anywhere.

The W406 is an embedded Linux or WinCE computer that features two software selectable RS-232/422/485 ports, and one Ethernet port. Programmers will find that the W406 provides a convenient programming environment for producing bug-free industrial applications at a lower cost. In addition, the W406 comes with an SD socket, USB host, and four digital input and four digital output channels, making it the ideal computer for a variety of industrial applications such as data acquisition, data processing, protocol conversion, and remote device control and monitoring via wireless communication.

Integrated Communication Without Restrictions

The W406 provides quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE 900/1800/850/1900 MHz and an SMS tunnel mode, allowing engineers to receive the latest information and status from field sites in real-time. With the W406's wireless features, network systems can use long-range cellular applications to extend their reach. Users can also create peer-to-peer, distributed wireless communication with embedded systems by converting traditional wired devices to wireless to provide higher mobility and greater intelligence.

Wide Operating Temperature for Harsh Environments

In addition to standard models, the W406-T models have a wide operating temperature range of -40 to 70ºC to ensure stability when used in harsh industrial environments.
