Core materials include iron-nickel or molybdenum for applications up to 1,250°C; titanium, tantalum, and niobium for biocompatibility and corrosion resistance; and stainless steel and nickel for combination of high strength and corrosion resistance. Metallurgically bonded to core material, wire ranges from 0.05–10 mm OD and ribbon is available up to 25 mm wide.

Custom engineered platinum clad wire and ribbon that provides high thermal- and corrosion resistance for a fraction of the cost of solid platinum products is available from Anomet Products, Inc. of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.
Anomet Platinum Clad Wire and Ribbon features platinum cladding thicknesses from 2% or more and can be manufactured with core materials such as iron-nickel or molybdenum for applications up to 1250°C; titanium, tantalum and niobium for biocompatibility and corrosion resistance; and stainless steel and nickel for a combination of high strength with corrosion resistance.
Functionally equivalent to solid platinum, Anomet Platinum Clad Wire and Ribbon is metallurgically bonded to a core material and can be supplied as wire from 0.05 mm to 10 mm O.D. and up to 25 mm wide as ribbon. They have a smooth, consistent surface finish, resist corrosion at high temperatures, and can be custom engineered to match specific application requirements.
