August 27, 2004 - Available in Xtreme high tensile, oil-tempered, or stainless steel wire, Dur-X-LiveWire® polywire media is suited for dry screening applications where materials contain high-moisture content and high proportion of fines. Wires are held in place by 60 durometer, molded rubber strips, which allow flexing action to keep screen openings clear. Slot-type openings include diamond-shaped, herringbone, straight, and Accuslot®, which alternates Z and straight wires.

New Dur-X-Livewire Maximizes Screening Output by Eliminating Blinding

LUCK, WI – Dur-X-LiveWire®, manufactured by Durex Products, Inc., is a new polywire slotted wire screen media designed to boost production by eliminating costly, time-consuming blinding and plugging problems – while also delivering significantly longer wear life. Available in Durex proprietary Xtreme high tensile, oil-tempered or stainless steel wire, Dur-X-LiveWire is ideal in dry screening applications where materials contain high-moisture content and a high proportion of fines. The screen’s high-strength wires are held in place by molded rubber strips that provide longer wear life, greater open area, and a superior bond and seal. Most importantly, these 60-durometer rubber strips – vs. the 80- to 90-durometer thermoplastic urethane strips seen in comparable screening media – allow the optimal flexing action required to keep screen openings clear. While rubber molded strips provide superior wear life in all applications, they are particularly ideal in hot and humid environments where thermoplastic polyurethane is not as effective.

For maximum screening output in a variety of dry or damp applications, Dur-X-LiveWire is available in four different slot-type openings: 1) Diamond-shaped; 2) Dur-X-Accuslot® (alternating “Z” and straight wires that form triangular-shaped openings); 3) Herringbone; and 4) Straight wire slot openings (long slot screens that have parallel wires). Durex Products engineers are available to assist producers in selecting the proper screening media for a given application.

Founded in 1965, Durex Products, Inc. serves the aggregate, mining, asphalt, and concrete industries as a leading manufacturer of wire cloth, urethane or rubber screening media; screening accessories; and urethane and/or rubber wear parts.
