Binarysec Launches Web-Based Firewall for Websites
BinarySEC has developed the first intelligent protection for websites and web applications. BinarySEC Webfense, state-of the art web application firewall, provides effective protection against cyber-attacks, but also provides maximum acceleration thanks to its Web Caching system. Traffic is cleaned up and accelerated by BinarySEC WebFense prior to reaching the website. This website "antivirus" is currently sold through subscription.
Its primary competitive edge stems from its user-friendliness. As a result, anyone is able to easily secure their own website. The 500 users currently using BinarySEC include professional website hosting companies and publishers, e-commerce websites and institutions.
The BinarySEC solution can block any abnormal traffic before it reaches the website. It provides protection against data theft, breakdowns in service, identity theft and a host of attacks coming from the web. Featuring a patented artificial intelligence engine, BinarySEC can learn which requests are legitimate, and this distinguishes it from traditional tools based on signatures or handwritten filters. The AI engine analyses incoming traffic, and eventually it will prevent action from requests deemed to be malicious. The tool can manage several hundred million requests per hour. The acceleration observed by customers is of the order of 10% to 200%. No updates are required, which provides protection against 0-day attacks. The learning process lasts for one week, during which time the website remains fully operational.
The solution, compatible with all websites and web servers, is based upon a platform operated and supervised at BinarySEC datacenters. Any website can be protected in a matter of minutes. BinarySEC is priced from $39 USD per month. BinarySEC plans to open its U.S. offices by the end of 2010 and is looking for local U.S. partners.
