October 13, 2004 - Fiberlink® 6400 Series Passive Optical WDMs allow 2 separate fiber optic links to operate at different wavelengths over same fiber optic core. Each optical signal may carry multiple baseband video, audio, and data channels. Optical signals are transmitted at 850 and 1,310 nm over multimode fiber or 1,310 and 1,550 nm over single mode fiber. Insertion loss ranges from 0.5-2.0 dB per output. Units are available in card or box versions with ST or FCPC connectors.

CSI Adds Wave Division Multiplexers To Fiberlink® Line

Hauppauge, NY - Communications Specialties, Inc. (CSI) introduces the Fiberlink® 6400 Series - passive optical wave division multiplexers (WDMs) that allow two separate fiber optic links to operate at different wavelengths over the same fiber optic core, minimizing the amount of fiber required within a given installation.

The 6400 Series work with all Fiberlink® and Pure Digital Fiberlink® one-way systems and may be used to transmit two separate optical signals in the same direction or in opposite directions. Each optical signal may carry multiple baseband video, audio and data channels, as defined by Fiberlink and/or Pure Digital Fiberlink systems in use with the 6400 Series. Optical signals are transmitted at 850 and 1310 nm over multimode fiber or at 1310 and 1550 nm over single mode fiber. Insertion loss ranges from 0.5 dB to 2.0 dB per output.

Systems are typically used in pairs. Each unit is sold separately. No power is required. Available in card or box versions with ST or FCPC connectors. Card version fills one slot in the 6000A card cage.

The 6400 Series complements the Pure Digital Fiberlink line in its ability to further maximize the number of signals supported via one fiber. As John Lopinto, President/CEO explains, "The 6400 Series provides additional flexibility to Pro AV system designers using fiber for signal distribution. For example, they can now use our systems to digitally transmit 64 channels of audio over one fiber, or 16 channels of uncompressed video and 32 channels of audio. That's unprecedented!"
