Natural Product Clarifies Lakes and Ponds
BETHLEHEM, PA (August 20, 2003) -- A new natural product to clarify water in ponds, lakes, lagoons and other slow-moving bodies of water has been introduced by Bioscience, Inc.
Known as MICROCAT®-AL, the treatment formulation consists of microbes selected from nature, plus biodegradable aids to settling of suspended solids. The beneficial microorganisms, which thrive in both oxygen-rich and semi-stagnant waters, maintain clarity in "used" water, such as polishing ponds used by fish farms or waste treatment plants by using up available nutrients. They also enhance settling of solids in shallow, slow-moving systems.
The product can also be used for cleaning murky water in farm ponds, golf course water hazards or small lakes, without the use of hazardous chemicals or synthetic flocculating agents.
MICROCAT-AL consists of a granular powder that is sprayed on the surface water. The amount used depends upon the volume of water to be clarified, its depth and its rate of replenishment.
