Unit checks for flash, short shots, contamination or changes on molded part or surface of mold to prevent damage to cavities, core pins, and slides. Error Prevention System compensates for inconsistent mold open return, and rapid changes due to vibrations or brightness of mold area.

Comet Automation Systems, Inc., Introduces New Vision Protection System: PE-300
DAYTON, Ohio, (March 4, 2003) -- Comet Automation Systems, Inc., a leading manufacturer of auxiliary equipment for injection molding has introduced a new smaller, faster, and more accurate vision system: Comet PE-300.
This new hand held mold monitor has a 6.5 inch screen and weighs less than three pounds and is only 2.5 inches deep. The enhanced screen resolution is six times greater then the previous model and is capable of sensing ultra small parts or small product details in just .03 seconds scan time. After machine set up, this ultra light system can hang from the machine safety gate for easy operator access.
The PE-300 checks for flash, short shots, contamination or changes on the molded part or surface of the mold to prevent damage to cavities, core pins, and slides.
The PE-300 has one CCD camera and light source standard with an optional second camera package available for larger molds or multi-cavity applications. The Error Prevention System (patent pending) compensates for inconsistent mold open return, rapid changes due to vibrations or brightness of the mold area. Repeat part ejection is also possible on the new PE-300. If parts are detected in the mold before mold close, the PE-300 will instruct the molding machine to eject the parts again before sending an audible alarm. Unmanned operation can be accomplished with this self recovery function.
