USB Option for Solid-state Viscosity Sensor Supports Plug-and-Play Applications

April5, 2006 - Westbrook, Maine - BiODE is introducing a new USB version of its matchbox-sized BiODE's solid-state viscosity and temperature sensor for process, and oil conditioning and monitoring applications.

The USB connectivity option provides the customer with the ability to integrate the BiODE ViSmart(TM) viscosity sensor to any computer platform or control system via the standard USB port to instantaneously acquire real-time viscosity and temperature data. Additionally, using any commercially available standard USB hub, the customer can acquire data from up to four ViSmart(TM) or other physical parameter sensors utilizing BiODE ViscNet(TM) software.

The BiODE ViSmart(TM) sensor is designed for challenging embedded applications for example, helicopter transmissions, oil well drills, and paint and coating manufacturing processes. The sensor measures just 1.3in X 1.1in X 0.4in and weighs only 4 oz. The sensor has no moving parts, requires no calibration by the customer, and is unaffected by vibration or flow conditions because it is completely sealed. In addition to the ViSmart(TM) sensor, the BiODE product set includes the ViscNet(TM) control hub to provide a continuous audit trial for process monitoring markets and the eCup(TM) handheld reader for on-the-spot quality control and laboratory viscosity measurements .
