VRcontext Announces the Release of WalkinsideŽ Version 6.0

The Next Generation Virtual Reality Software for Efficient Life-Cycle Asset Management, Operational Safety, Training and Remote Visualization.

BRUSSELS, -- Brussels-based VRcontext International announces the release of WalkinsideŽ Version 6.0 virtual reality software, already deployed at client operational sites.

Walkinside Version 6.0 is a significant milestone for Oil & Gas asset operators in four key areas: the Immersive Training Simulator (ITS) to simulate real-life field operations, the collaborative Walkinside WebServer combined with Citrix-based remote 3D visualization to deploy 3D in large organizations, the powerful Seabed Builder(TM) to help construct accurate virtual reality models for complex field lay-outs, and the new Software Development Kit (SDK) for faster and easier integration of Enterprise applications.

The Walkinside ITS already helps Total E&P Angola simulate real-life workflow situations using different training mode options, with diverse immersive scenarios specifically designed for the planning, the scheduling and the execution of Standard Operations Procedures.

The new Walkinside WebServer combined with Citrix 3D remote visualization technology offers a 'Thin Client' solution that enables authenticated users to conveniently access 3D models and associated data on low-end PCs, tablets and smart phones from the field, the office and other locations, pooling expertise and promoting better decision-making.

Further, this game-changing Walkinside version includes the Seabed Builder option for Subsea Asset model building. As complex assets become more geographically dispersed, whether onshore or on the seabed, specific tools and functionalities are required to assemble automatically a correct 3D model of the complete infrastructure, using ESRI ArcGIS data.

Finally, the new Walkinside SDK supports direct access to all the VR Model geometry data and enables custom-built, bi-directional links to external applications, developed on top of Web Services technology.

"Leveraging this new, more flexible architecture, COMOS - used together with Walkinside - makes it possible to implement comprehensive Basic and Detail Engineering processes in 3D through all the Life-cycle phases of an industrial plant or unit," said Bernd Kokkelink, Head of Research & Development and Product Management for COMOS Plant Engineering Software at Siemens.
