DALLAS – Imagine Communications, a market share leader of software and networking solutions serving the global media and entertainment markets, today announced the launch of the Selenio X100, the latest enhancement to the company's best-in-class facility signal processing and mobile production solutions. An important milestone in bringing to market the Imagine Communications vision of a future defined by IP, software, the cloud and TV Everywhere, the Selenio X100 ensures support for hybrid, next-generation television and production systems by offering a unique architecture future-proofed for uncompressed baseband over IP and Ultra HD (UHD).

The intelligent, dual-channel 1RU Selenio X100 frame synchronizer and converter delivers a broad range of processing capability for video, audio, data and metadata. From ingest and outbound processing and tape archive to production and post-production applications, the powerful, energy-efficient Selenio X100 processor easily integrates into the signal workflow of any broadcast environment, including mobile production trucks, small stations, production studios and larger networks.

"As technology advances and new standards emerge, there is a significant need across our customer base to support legacy workflow while also preparing for and integrating new infrastructures," said Steve Copeland, Director of Product Management for Imagine Communications. "The Selenio X100 addresses disparate signal types in the workflow to bridge analog, digital, standard-definition, high-definition and future IP infrastructures. It is also extensively future-proofed, providing support for 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GigE), uncompressed baseband over IP, Ultra HDTV (4K) and MPEG encoding/decoding."

One of the first customers for the Selenio X100 is Lyon Video, which provides mobile television production facilities, full service video, and film production, post-production, and DVD authoring for customers across North America and some of the largest networks in the world. Lyon Video purchased multiple Selenio X100 units to outfit its mobile production trucks with high definition/digital/analog input/output and fiber small form-factor pluggable (SFP) transmitters. The Selenio X100 will be featured in Lyon Video's highly anticipated LYON-14 mobile unit at the 2014 NAB Show, OE601.

"We are pleased to be showcasing the Selenio X100 in our latest mobile units at NAB," said Bob Lyon, President of Lyon Video. "This is a unique opportunity to highlight the combined synergies between our leading companies and demonstrate tomorrow's technologies of fiber and IP video/audio. We look forward to extending our long-term relationship with Imagine Communications - who keeps us rolling out on the road and ahead of our competition."

Built to meet the facility signal processing demands of a rapidly evolving industry, the Selenio X100 offers a bridge from existing SD and HD infrastructure to support the highest video quality for multiple program channels, making it ideally suited for media companies looking to roll out UHD TV. The Selenio X100 also gives the user a single point in the workflow to control and monitor the video and audio essence along with any associated data and metadata. Its intuitive, web-based GUI enables effortless configuration and effective troubleshooting for superior operational efficiency. It features industry-leading technologies, including 3D adaptive de-interlacing and scalar video technology, Dolby® and DTS Neural audio technology, and a new data wrangler for associated data and metadata processing. The Selenio X100 is based on highly reliable, market-proven innovation that helped the television industry move from analog to digital to high definition, and from mono to stereo to surround sound, improving the quality of experience for billions of viewers across tens of thousands of channels worldwide.
